Obumwe Microfinance Limited, through its flagship community program Turi-Obumu Group, has been selected among 52 outstanding African organizations (out of nearly 4,000 applicants!) to advance to the Next Phase of the Africa Impact Fundraising Grant Program, organized by the New Africa Fund (NAF). This milestone is a verification of our promise to extend financial services to those without access to the market, create solidarity and build the economic resilience of the less privileged and hard-working communities of Uganda.
Why Your Support Matters
During the whole November 2025, every dollar donated to the Fundraising Drive for Turi-Obumu will be matched 1:1 by the New Africa Fund, up to USD 5,000. Put differently, NAF takes the work a dollar accomplishes with us to a new level by doubling a donation to give financial hope to the most disadvantaged.
Why Your Support Matters
Turi-Obumu literally translates as “We Are One.” It is one less community-based savings group — it is a people's movement aimed at eradicating poverty, mutual support and creating possibilities for the marginalized.
The people we serve are:
Women in the market who have difficulty developing their stalls, Young people and boda-boda riders requiring the initial capital
Single mothers and persons with disabilities, who want to revive their livelihoods, Part-time workers and guards who are often denied bank loans.
With support from this platform, members commit themselves to saving, investing, and increasing their wealth together — thereby extending the culture of trust and mutual prosperity.
What Your Donation Will Do
By your help, we will be able to give interest-free loans to hard-to-reach segments of society — which is how women, youth, and people with disabilities will be able to start or grow their small businesses without being subjected to high-interest rates.
To be more specific, your donation will facilitate us in:
✅ Growing Turi-Obumu groups in different Ugandan localities
✅ Saving operations going digital for effectiveness and transparency
✅ Providing financial literacy and entrepreneurship training
✅ Creating a revolving fund for interest-free loans for the vulnerable members
✅ Facilitating access to micro-insurance and community safety nets
